Everyone deserves a living space that supports their life, free from barriers, so that they may age in place with dignity.

Sherelle Murray, REALTOR®, is trained to assess properties for accessibility and their suitability to be retrofitted, then connects those clients with local experts to modify the spaces accordingly

She is actively working to change the way realtors and the real estate market serve those who are differently abled and to bridge an important gap that currently exists.

There is no existing standard for what makes a home “accessible” on the MLS platform. There are many considerations when choosing a home that will be safe and accommodating to the diverse range of ages and abilities of people who live in and visit a home. Sherelle is focused on removing barriers to allow her clients to secure independence at home, creating an increased quality of life and economic empowerment.

The accessible components in a home aren’t limited to wheelchair ramps vs stairs or wide doorways.

They can include counter height, cabinet reach, shower access, lightswitch placement, and countless more considerations that are unique to the individual. Mobility challenges or cognitive challenges, whether from age or impairment, are as common as they are diverse.

The truth is that the requirements many people have for their living environment are often overlooked or not accommodated, and that is what we seek to rectify.

Sherelle’s guidance and support in this area is offered at no charge.

Red Plaid Developments specializes in building barrier-free homes for people with mobility challenges.
